Press Conference-New Bishop Announcement from Archdiocese of Saint Louis on Vimeo.
Monsignor Edward M. Rice, vocation director for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, has been named the new auxiliary bishop by Pope Benedict XVI! This announcement was made following the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Robert J. Hermann.
In response to his appointment, Monsignor Rice said, “I am profoundly touched by the confidence the Holy Father has placed in me. I have asked him to keep me in his prayers and I have assured him of my prayers, respect, and obedience.
At the same time I am honored that I can in some way assist Archbishop Carlson in his pastoral service to the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.
I have a great love for the Church in St. Louis, and relying on the example and support of Bishop Hermann, who served so faithfully, I too look forward to serving them in this new capacity.”
